Ionics Water Softener
Hardness in water is becoming a common problem causing stains on showers, bathtubs and even on washing machines. There are different types of water softeners readily available in the market which makes it much more difficult for a consumer to decide which product is best and will cater to his/her needs efficiently. The cost of setting up a proper water softening system may vary from $500 to $1000 depending on the amount of water that needs to be softened.
Ionics water softeners can help in reducing the hardness in water to a great extent and are also very affordable to use. An ionic water softener consists of a filtering unit, a brine tank, an indicator and valves to direct the flow of water. The indicator fitted to the softening unit can be set to recharge the filters after a certain period of time. There are also various semi automatic units, which let the users know when to recharge the softening unit.
The main principle involved in an ionic water softener is the replacement of various hardness causing minerals, which include salts of calcium and magnesium by sodium and potassium ions. Hardness in water can be increased or decreased by varying the presence of these salts. When water reaches to a measurement of 3.5 to 7 grains per gallon then it is considered as hard water. The ionic water softener reduces the hardness in water by filtering it through the negatively charged plastic beads, which are already soaked in the brine. The positively charged Magnesium and Calcium ions get attracted to the plastic beads that are negatively charged and are flushed in the brine. Finally the replacement of negative Calcium and Magnesium ions with positive Sodium and Potassium ions takes place resulting in lowering the hardness in water.
The ionic water softeners are widely used for commercial as well as for industrial use. These water softeners consist of a high capacity resin and a filtering device made up of carbon to restrict the growth of any bacteria in consumed water thereby providing continuously providing pure water for usage.
Consumption of water supplied by ionic softening system presents no health risks for people. However, people who are allergic to sodium can consume potassium treated water for their daily consumption. Moreover, consumption of softened water guarantees more durability and efficient working of household appliances. With the installation of ionic softening systems, detergents can work more effectively for cleaning clothes and with less water consumption. Use of soft water in cleaning purpose can increase the lifespan of clothes and is also good for skin. People must check the hardness of their consumed water and then must install an ionic water softener accordingly. The magnetic and ionic exchange information is provided completely on most of the softeners, which makes it further simple and easy to choose from other water softeners.
